Education
|
To the uneducated eye, Langstone Harbour can look a bit like a muddy wasteland with a few scrappy marshes around its shores and hardly worthy of protection. Education is therefore a key to ensuring its appreciation as one of the finest natural areas in southern England and its survival in an increasingly densely populated area. The Harbour Board runs guided walks and other events as part of its commitment to protect the environment and it publishes a quarterly environmental events leaflet promoting all walks, talks, fun-days etc in the area. The Portsmouth Outdoor Centre on the western shore provides environmental education classes as well as water sports courses and has introduced many school children to the importance and delights of mud! |
