Accessibility Statement

Langstone Harbour Board is committed to making its website as accessible and usable as reasonably possible for all visitors. We recognise that people access information in different ways and may use a range of assistive technologies, and we aim to ensure that essential information about the Harbour and its operations can be accessed by everyone who needs it.

Current Accessibility Position
We acknowledge that some areas of the website are not fully accessible. Certain older pages and documents may not meet modern accessibility standards, and some images or downloadable files may not include the level of formatting or alternative text required for full compatibility with screen readers. Historic material and third‑party content may also fall short of current best practice. These issues do not prevent access to core information, but we recognise that they may create difficulties for some users.

Disproportionate Burden
As a small authority with limited resources, it is not currently feasible for us to retrospectively update every historic document or page to full accessibility standards. After considering the time and cost involved, we have concluded that doing so would present a disproportionate burden under the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Even so, we remain committed to gradual improvement. When pages are updated or new content is added, we will take reasonable steps to improve clarity, structure and compatibility with assistive technologies. We also aim to ensure that new documents are created with accessibility in mind wherever possible.

Requesting Information in an Alternative Format
If you need information from the website in a different format, we will do our best to help. You can request:

  • Large‑print versions of documents

  • Accessible PDFs

  • Audio or other alternative formats

Please contact the Harbour Office by email or telephone, and we will consider your request and provide the information in a suitable format where reasonably practicable.

Reporting Accessibility Issues
If you encounter an accessibility problem that is not mentioned in this statement, or believe we are not meeting accessibility requirements, we encourage you to let us know using the contact details provided on the website. We take all feedback seriously and will review any issues raised.

Standards We Aim to Meet
Langstone Harbour Board aims to work towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Level AA standard. Full compliance may not be achievable across all areas of the site, particularly where older or externally‑provided content is involved, but we will continue to review and improve accessibility as part of our ongoing website maintenance.

Review of This Statement
This statement will be reviewed regularly to ensure it remains accurate and reflects the current state of the website.
