Helen is the longest serving member of staff, having joined The Board in October 1990 on a part time basis that has continued. She has seen many changes over the years including the expansion of the office accommodation, the introduction of IT and new staff members including three different Harbour Masters.
THE PATROL TEAM!
Seasonal Harbour Patrol Officers
During the busy summer season we rely upon a small group of seasonal staff to augment the patrol team to carry out safety patrols afloat, Harbour dues inspections and carry out enforcement activity as required.
KERRIE WHITLEY
Accountant
Kerrie joined LHB in September 2022, having worked alongside the Treasurer for a number of years at Littlehampton Harbour. Kerrie has over 10 years’ experience with Harbours and public accounting. With full MAAT status and recent CIPD qualifications, Kerrie provides full support to Langstone Harbour as a freelance contractor on a part-time basis.
TOM HANDS
Office Manager
Tom joined the team in August 2021. Tom has a background working for local authorities and housing associations and has obtained serval qualifications in accountancy & bookkeeping throughout his career.
During his youth, Tom was an avid sailor and completed RYA levels 1–4.

Assistant Administration Officer

During the summer we get much busier with general enquiries, vessel dues renewals and mooring administration. We wouldn't be able to handle this without additional support.
MEG ROBERTS
Environment Officer
Meg joined the team in 2022 after graduating from Bournemouth University with a degree in Environmental Science. With a passion for nature conservation and marine environments, she hopes to maintain and enhance the ecological value of Langstone Harbour.
CHRIS BRABY
Treasurer
Chris has an accounting background in industry, latterly at Board level. Past employers include IBM and The De La Rue Company.
HANNAH NEWLAND
Assistant Administration Officer
Hannah is the newest member of the team, having joined in April 2022 as an Office Administrative Assistant.
Hannah has spent the last 14 years working as an equine Vet nurse, but is currently undertaking training to gain Accountancy Accreditation.
Hannah has lived on Hayling Island for a decade and enjoys all the island has to offer.
BILLY JOHNSON
Harbour Master
Joined the team in July 2020. Billy has a background in Harbour Management, hydrographic survey and served in the Royal Navy for 8 years.

Having worked at ABP Southampton as Port Hydrographer and as Harbour Master and Pilot at Littlehampton.
ROB DUNFORD
Deputy Harbour Master
Rob joined in October 2021 as Deputy Harbour Master having been a LHB Seasonal Patrol Officer in 2012 & 2015. He returns after gaining experience in the Merchant Navy where over 9 years operating in the Offshore Energy sector he gained extensive vessel handling experience and rose to the rank of Relief Master.
STEVE PROSSER
Assistant Harbour Master
​Steve started Sailing when just 10 years old. Initially training as an Engineer he went into the Plant and Machinery Industry running his own business for 13 years and obtaining a HGV Class 1 driving license.
​
In 2014 he completed 2 legs of the Clipper Round the World Race, sailing from San Fransico to London and has worked in Greece sailing around the Islands for a year for a large holiday company.
​
He subsequently completed his RYA Advanced Power Boat qualification and started working here at Langstone as a seasonal Patrol Officer in 2017
ANNA PERKINS
Assistant Harbour Master
Anna joined the team in October 2024. She grew up sailing both recreationally and competitively and has gained experience through a number of maritime roles. She has served in the Royal Navy, worked as a Search and Rescue Coordinator with the HM Coastguard, and most recently worked as moorings officer and duty patrol officer at Chichester Harbour Conservancy.
